If you decide to freeze them, make sure that you blanch, peel and core before you stick them in the freezer. I don't know if I have a favorite tomato. I use different varieties for different things. My in-laws freeze tomatoes and they like them. I just came in from trimming and weeding the two large perennial beds!! Two down..three to go! Last year I canned 52 jars and we could have used about 70! Last week was too hot to cook so I could not can my tomatoes. I pureed them and froze them hoping that would work.
