Gardening Gifts

"The Italian" did good. He got me some great gardening gifts for Christmas! It seems like I need a new pair of pruners every year. I am really bad about leaving them laying outside and mis-placing them at least once a day! He got me two different types of pruners and a clip-on holder to put them in. I think he is hoping that I won't spend as much time looking for where I layed them down! We will see if you can teach an old gardener new tricks!

I'm not much of a book reader unless it is related to gardening. There were a couple of gardening books that I was interested in from Rodale. The Rodale Institute is about 15 miles from where we live and they have another organic experimental farm about 3 miles from us. They have some pretty good workshops scheduled for next year. I think that I may go to one or two of them.

As you can see, "The Italian Santa" also got me a great jams and preserves book! There are some really interesting recipes in it. I think this means...even more jams and jellies next year!

  2. I love gardening gifts. My MIL gives me money every year for my bday to spend on whatever I want. That always goes to the garden.

  3. How lucky are you living next to the Rodale facilities. I can't remember when the I discovered Rodale and their wonderful books on gardening, health, and simple living. I've been hooked on their down to earth information for several decades.

Thank you so much for giving us a wonderful year of blogging. I look forward to 2011 for another year blog reading.

Have a great post Christmas week or should I say a pre New Year week.

  4. Look at those books and garden goodies!! Nice Santa you have there, Robin! The Fiskar snips are so interesting, I'll have to look at those in the nearby garden center here. They remind me of some quilting snips I have! lol

You are soooo lucky to be that close to Rodale! I learned about organic methods from Rodale and the Natural Pest book you have is great (mine is a diff. edition).

I'm loving that rug of yours.....Just sayin'...

  6. Oooh, What an awesome Italian Santa! My hubs did great too, he got me a bunch of gardening related gifts as well. I'm with you, I'm not much of a reader unless it's a gardening book. Enjoy your new presents!

  7. I remember when I was young, all I wanted was alcohol and loud music. Now, gardening books are the thing!

Man, I need some decent secateurs too!

  8. What great (and thoughtful!!) gifts. And now I know where to steal some Fiskars when I lose mine (again and again!!)
Seriously, I started putting mine on a stretchy cord attached to my belt loop---I'm TERRIBLE at setting down my pruners and losing track of them. This has helped me immensely.
