A Change is in the Air
I am officially no longer retired! Yes, I got a job in my profession! I have been looking a little here and there. Last Wednesday, I received a call from one of my contacts regarding an open position. Today, I signed my contract! I'm sure those tomatoes will start ripening by the bucket loads now!
Thanks Holly, I don't know how much actual "me time" there will be right now. I'm sure it's going to be lots of harvesting and then canning for awhile.
That's wonderful news Robin. Finding a job these days is really hard so I am really happy that you found one and found one in your field. Hopefully the Italian can help with the harvest so that you don't get overwhelmed because when those tomatoes are ripe, there's no stopping them!
Thanks Lexa, It sure is hard to find a job these days. I'm sure "The Italian" and I will get those tomatoes canned when they start coming in like crazy!
Congratulations! Starting a new job is so hard especially when you want to do things at home, luckily it gets better and you get more organized (or maybe, used to it, lol) eventually.
Nancy, I have a degree in Architecture and have always worked in construction management. My new job is Sr. Estimator for a very established developer.
Congratulations! Sometimes I wish I could go back to work but arthritic hands and laboratory medicine just won't work. Glad you were able to find something that is right for you!
Congratulations Robin! So glad you got work in your field; my brother was out of work for 3 years and finally got back into his field this past winter. It was tough on him. I'm sure you are happy and you're too dedicated a gardener to let those harvests overwhelm you!
It's been 3 years for me too. I have been doing the estimating, contracts and budgets for my husband's projects during that time though since he is an architect. It's sure going to feel good to see all my old contacts again!
No, those harvests won't be wasted. Everything will get processed one way or another!
Congrats! And good luck relearning the juggle between work and gardening/hobbies. I look forward to admiring how well you harvest and preserve while holding down a full time job :)
PS, in case that didn't come out quite right, my meaning is that I have every expectation that I'll be dropping my jaw in amazement with how you manage to do it all.
I went back to work last year after a 4 year "retirement". It's been a bit tough for me to balance the garden and the job...but I feel as tho I'm finally getting a handle on it. You'll do just fine. I had my best girl friends join me in several marathon canning weekends...sure helped with all of the work and we had a grand time! Congrats on the new job!
Congrats to you, Robin. I'm so happy that you found what you were looking for. And there isn't a doubt in my mind that you'll accomplish everything you want to do. Fantastic gardener and contract estimator with energy left over -- you'd put a 20 year old and a 30 year old to shame! lol
You just guaranteed yourself the most amazing harvests! Good luck, and congrats
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so Sue! I just may have to find myself a can can partner! I told "The Italian" he going to have to help if it gets crazy!

ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, the timing could have been better. But, I have been wanting to go back for awhile now.
