17oz. of Fresh Spinach.
I guess I can no longer complain about having difficulties growing spinach.
7 oz. of beautiful Vates Collards.
Some of these cold frame grown collards are starting to bolt & flower. I did plant out another variety a few weeks ago. So, we will have plenty of collards for awhile.
6.5 oz. of overwintered Kale....

I moved the asparagus beds a couple of days ago and had to pick these spears. I sure hope they survive the move.!

Robin,
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Love the pictures of your harvest.
The veggies look extremely healthy.
Do you have any suggestions on growing Bok Choy? I picked up three plants, they look very healthy and have flowers blooming already. Would appreciate any info you would like to share.
Thanks, Sandy
Thanks Sandy, Bok Choy likes cooler weather. It should not be flowering. That means it's about done and may bolt. I would snip out the flower and see if they continue to grow. They must have been exposed to some extreme temperature fluctuations. I have found that the Pak Choi (there are so many varieties and spellings) that I grow will do that when the temperatures fluctuate from cold to hot. Baby Choi always grows much better for me and gets huge!! Hope that I was helpful.
DeleteThanks Robin,
DeleteI have snipped off the flowers and watered them. I will let you know how they turn out.
Good luck with your asparagus move. It sounds like a real chore. But asparagus is so worth it.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope it makes it Daphne. The little bit we had was so so good!
Deleteooooooh asparagus!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was yummy!!!
DeleteCongrats on the asparagus - and the spinach. Looks like you got the hang of it now!
ReplyDeleteWe shall see if I have any success with my spring spinach. That was my ticked off and throw a bunch of seeds in the bed last fall planting!!
DeleteWay to go on asparagus and spinach! Mine are only now waking up so first harvest on them will be next weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny, I hope that you have a nice harvest come this weekend!
DeleteThat is a great spring harvest! Love the pile of spinach (yum!) and the asparagus is always a real treat. Keeping my fingers crossed your asparagus bed made the move without any set backs.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm going to cross my fingers and toes with the asparagus transplanting!
DeleteYour asparagus looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy! It was good!
DeleteI am very jealous of your asparagus! I love asparagus but no one else in the family likes it so they won't let me grow it:(
ReplyDeleteI bet they would like it if they ate it fresh from the garden. There were a lot of veggies that "The Italian" didn't like until he tasted my home grown real veggies!
DeleteWe've started picking greens too but I don't know how long they are likely to last!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll get some good harvests in before it gets too warm! Greens are good!
Deletewow lovely greens harvest!
ReplyDeleteThanks MrsP, I see you have been one busy lady!
DeleteYummy greens! Spinach looks great! I guess your difficulities have passed!! =0)
ReplyDeleteHolly, We shall see how I do with the Spring Spinach!
DeleteWill the purple passion asparagus turn green after cooking?
ReplyDeleteYes, the purple asparagus turns a dark green when cooked.
DeleteLook at those asparagus and spinach, wow....
ReplyDeleteI didn't have any luck with spinach last fall-winter, I think it was the variety of seeds I used, it seems only Bloomsdale performs well in our area, I'm going back to the old standby.
I didn't have any luck with any variety last spring. Hopefully I will do better this spring.
DeleteI was thinking of not bothering with spinach this year but now looking at yours I want to eat some, hmmmm perhaps I will have to make room.
ReplyDeleteFresh spinach is just so so good. I think you should try to put a little in here and there.
Deleteasparagus oh joy! I've had a few spears from older plants and they are so yummy. I also planted some Purple Passion this year but they are barely peeking above ground and of course are very small. Lovely greens, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, This was my first ever asparagus harvest. Hopefully the plants will survive the move.
DeleteLove the asparagus! I keep thinking I should try to grow it but just don't have enough room ... I definitely have "plot" envy! I checked on a similar program here ... I can sign up to be on the waiting list for a 4x4' plot ... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI would say that a 4 x 4 is a bed not a plot!
DeleteGood luck moving your asparagus! I tried to move ours...and it all died =(
ReplyDeleteOh Dorothy, I will be so disappointed if it doesn't make it.
DeleteLovely harvest!! I had a difficult time with spinach last year. Spring bolted before producing much and fall was eaten by deer. Hopefully this year will be different. I hope your asparagus survives the transplant. They too look yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel, Hopefully you will have a good spinach year. We were so disappointed last year with none.
DeleteGreat harvest, Robin!
ReplyDeleteMy spinach have also grown well and I and my wife are gonna harvest them in a few day. I think my spinach are different from yours judging from the shape of their leaves. The leaves of your spinach look a little rumply.
There are so many different varieties of spinach. I will have to see what yours looks like when you harvest it. Make sure you post it!
