Finally...WE'VE GOT BEANS!!!

Well, I guess that it was the excessive heat we were having that made the beans not produce. Yesterday, I decided to check the purple pole beans again. To my surprise, we finally have beans! They were planted at the end of May and have grown to be at least 12 feet tall. I didn't think that they were ever going to produce. This week our temperatures dropped and we have beans!!

You really can't tell by this picture how tall these plants are.
They have grown up 6 feet, down 6 feet and across.
I estimate their height at at least 12 feet.

Purple Beans!
I am sure in about a week, I will be complaining about how much they are producing and that I can't keep up!

  1. Oooh, this is good news. We wrote about how our pole beans weren't producing either. This makes me optimistic!

  2. This is so funny Robin. Yesterday I went out to the garden to check also. When i found three, I nearly yelped. Started to take pictures and the camera batteries died. Not much luck in the photography department. I hope to get a nice harvest. My plants are practically the same size.
You posted exactly what I was going to post so I am just going to point people to your post.

  3. Congratulation on beans! I have only flowers on mine, maybe they will start to produce soon too.

  4. Yay for beans! Me too! After the heat wave broke, the next day my 2nd sowing of bush beans were flowering, and once the rain stops I believe there are a few to harvest already.

  5. My timing was a bit off, so we went a couple of weeks without fresh beans. Now the pole beans have put out a bunch of new growth, and are blossoming again, one bed of bush beans is putting on its second crop, and one planting of bush beans is going to inundate me with beans in a day or two. I don't think I've ever seen so many beans per plant!

  6. Yum, I love snap beans! What is the purple variety you are growing?

We had our first bunch for lunch yesterday, with more to come, yay!
